Interest compounds every quarter and is paid at maturity, before tax. Rates are each bank's card rate for exactly 1 year. See all 33 banks for 1 year.

Is ₹25 lakh fully insured?

DICGC insures deposits up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank, principal and interest together. At the top rate, ₹25 lakh grows to ₹26,86,238. To keep every rupee covered, split it across at least 6 banks, about ₹4,16,667 in each.

Will TDS be deducted?

Banks deduct TDS when your total FD interest at that bank in a financial year crosses ₹50,000, or ₹1,00,000 for senior citizens. At 7.25%, ₹25 lakh earns about ₹1,86,238 in the first year, so TDS will be deducted for a regular depositor unless they have other deposits at the same bank. A senior citizen at 7.75% earns about ₹1,99,454 in the first year, so TDS will apply. The interest is taxable at your slab rate either way.

Taking interest out every quarter

If you need regular income, choose quarterly payout. ₹25 lakh at 7.25% pays ₹45,313 every quarter and returns the ₹25 lakh at the end. At SBI it pays ₹39,063 a quarter.
