SIP step up calculator, with inflation
A SIP calculator that does what most don't: raises your SIP every year and shows the result in today's rupees. Find out what your monthly investment could grow to. Add a yearly step-up to match your raises, and see the result in today's rupees so the number means something.
Year by year

What actually moves the number
Three things decide where a SIP ends up: how much you put in, how long you stay, and what return the market gives you. You control the first two. Time does the heavy lifting. In a 20-year SIP at 12%, more than 60% of the final value is added in the last seven years, even though you invest only about a third of the money in that time.
That is why stopping early hurts more than it looks, and why a step-up matters. Raising the SIP by 10% each year costs you little in any single year, but it pushes the biggest contributions into the period when they have the most time left to compound with everything else.

Questions people ask
What return should I assume for an equity SIP?
Nobody knows future returns. Many planners use 10% to 12% a year for a diversified equity fund held 10 years or more, and lower for debt or hybrid funds. Try a cautious figure as well as a hopeful one and plan around the cautious result.
What is a step-up SIP?
A step-up (or top-up) SIP raises your monthly amount by a fixed percentage every year, usually in line with salary increments. It is one of the most powerful levers you have: ₹10,000 a month for 20 years at 12% grows to about ₹99,91,479, but with a 10% yearly step-up it grows to about ₹1,98,88,715.
How is this SIP value calculated?
Each instalment is invested at the start of the month and compounds monthly at the annual rate divided by 12. This matches the convention most Indian fund house calculators use. Real fund returns vary month to month, so treat the result as an estimate, not a promise.
Why show the value in today's rupees?
Because ₹1 crore in 20 years will not buy what ₹1 crore buys today. At 6% inflation, prices roughly triple in 20 years. The inflation-adjusted figure tells you what your future corpus is worth in today's money.
Is SIP income taxed?
Gains are taxed when you redeem, not while you stay invested. For equity funds, long-term gains above the yearly exemption are taxed at the long-term rate, and short-term gains at the short-term rate. Debt fund gains are taxed at your slab rate. This calculator shows pre-tax values.
