Reading this honestly

A 12% yearly return is a common long-run assumption for a diversified equity fund, but it is not guaranteed, and real returns arrive unevenly. The 8% column is closer to what a balanced or debt-heavy portfolio might earn. If you can afford the 10% column, you have built in a margin of safety.

Inflation matters as much as returns. At 6% a year, ₹1 crore at age 55 has the buying power of about ₹17.41 lakh today. To have ₹1 crore in today's money, you would need about ₹5.74 crore by then.
